Textile Artist Mandy Pattullo returns to the Manoir in 2026 with two new workshops . Mandy is an experienced and enthusiastic teacher, generous with ideas and techniques. She likes to share whatever inspires her and then encourage others to work with similar ideas to create pieces that are not just copies but personal to them.
In the first part of the course she will show you how she got inspiration from a trip to Sweden to start embroidering in wool, based on a close study of traditional carriage cushions and furnishings.. Folk art flowers , animals and pattern are mixed up and stitched with wool on to a wool background whether it be an old piece of blanket, tweed , felt or wool materials. Mandy will guide you through the design process and help you work effectively with colour and learn the appropriate stitches
After two days in the workshop we have a break and have the opportunity to purchase beautiful old French cloth to add to our stash and to work with in the second part of the course..
Mandy is known for her textile collage pieces which bring together small fragments, patched together and then embellished with stitch. You can bring your own old precious bits to add to the things you find in France.
You may have always wondered how you can use the special things you collect and in the last two days you will have the opportunity to use them and turn them into small resolved art textile pieces that are truly beautiful and will hold the story of the fun time you had in the delighful little studio at the Manoir with like minded people.
